Lucas Herring is a seasoned IT professional with extensive experience in government and nonprofit sectors, currently serving as the ADS AHS IT Deputy Director for the Vermont Agency of Digital Services. With a career spanning over two decades, Lucas has demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale IT projects, transitioning legacy systems to modern solutions, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. Lucas holds an MBA/MIIT in Performance Management from Champlain College and several other degrees and certificates. He is committed to continuous improvement and has been recognized with multiple awards for service and innovation.
Beyond professional endeavors, Lucas actively contributes to his community through various nonprofit roles in several different areas. These include leadership positions with the following: 251 Club of Vermont, Northfield Observances and the Barre Partnership (travel and tourism); Green Up Vermont (environmental); Vermont State Employees’ Association (labor relations); the Vermont Granite Museum (arts); the Lions Club (ADA), Public Transportation Advisory Committee (transportation), Green Mountain Council of BSA (Youth Development), and the American Legion (Veterans Affairs). His municipal government experience spans throughout Washington County serving as an elected Mayor and School Board Chair, as well as many committees.
He has also volunteered with several different nonprofit organizations including American Red Cross, Barre Elks Club, Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival, Everybody Wins! Reading Program, Freezing Fun for Families, Kick for Care, March of Dimes, Penguin Plunge, Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, Relay for Life, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and WWFY-FM FROGGY 100.9.
